IRISH SODA BREAD PERFECT FOR ST PATRICKS DAY 🌿

Irish Soda Bread is a traditional Irish bread that is quick and easy to make. With a crispy crust and soft, tender interior, it’s perfect for slathering with butter or enjoying alongside soups and stews.

Ingredients

– 4 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking soda

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 3/4 cups buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk.
  4. Stir until a dough forms, then turn it out onto a floured surface.
  5. Knead gently for about 1 minute until smooth.
  6. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet.
  7. Cut a deep cross into the top of the dough.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Let cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

– For a sweeter version, you can add 1/4 cup of sugar or some raisins.

– Serve with butter and jam for a delicious treat!
