1 tablespoon lemon zest

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

1 tablespoon lemon juice (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sourdough starter, warm water, sugar, salt, lemon zest, lemon juice, and baking soda. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 4-6 hours, or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 200°F (93°C).
  7. While the bread is baking, prepare the lemon glaze by whisking together powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth.
  8. Once the bread is cool, drizzle the glaze over the top and let it set before slicing.
