- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the macaroni according to package directions; drain.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Gradually whisk in milk, and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish and top with crumbled bacon, breadcrumbs, and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, try adding a sprinkle of smoked paprika on top before baking.
You can substitute the bacon with cooked chicken or keep it vegetarian by omitting the meat.
