Ingredients
- – 1 ½ cups active sourdough starter (fed)
- – 4 cups all-purpose flour
- – ½ cup sugar
- – 1 teaspoon salt
- – 1 ½ cups milk (warm)
- – 2 large eggs
- – ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- – 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- – 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, warm milk, and sugar. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mixture and stir until combined.
- Gradually add the flour, salt, and cinnamon (if using), mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise at room temperature for 2 hours.
- After rising, punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the loaf in a greased bread pan, cover it, and refrigerate overnight.
- The next morning, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the dough from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
– This bread can be served plain or topped with butter, jam, or cream cheese.
– Feel free to add nuts or dried fruit to the dough for extra flavor and texture.
– Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
